About
Dubai travel guide
Dubai is one of the easiest international trips from India — a short flight from most major cities, Indian food on every corner, and enough packed into one city to keep every age group busy.
It suits families particularly well. The city is safe, clean and built for comfort, with theme parks, water parks, aquariums and malls that make a holiday straightforward with children in tow.
When to go
Best time to visit Dubai
November to March is the best window, with warm days and pleasant evenings — the right weather for desert safaris, outdoor dining and walking between sights. December and January bring the Dubai Shopping Festival and the year's biggest crowds.
April to October is very hot, often above 40°C, and outdoor plans have to shift to early morning or after dark. Hotel rates fall sharply, and since most attractions are indoors and air-conditioned, it can still work if you plan around the heat.
Highlights
Top things to do in Dubai
The places most Dubai itineraries are built around.
Burj Khalifa
Observation decks on the 124th, 125th and 148th floors of the world's tallest building.
Desert safari
Dune bashing, camel rides and a dinner show with belly dancing out in the red dunes.
Dubai Mall and the Fountain
An aquarium, an ice rink and the fountain show on the lake every half hour after dusk.
Dhow cruise dinner
A traditional wooden boat along Dubai Marina or the older Dubai Creek.
Old Dubai
The gold and spice souks, and an abra across the creek for a single dirham.
Theme parks
IMG Worlds of Adventure, Dubai Parks and Resorts, and the Atlantis and Wild Wadi water parks.
Trip length
How many days do you need in Dubai?
Four nights and five days covers the highlights comfortably — a city tour and the Burj Khalifa, a desert safari, a dhow cruise, a theme park or shopping day and time to relax. Add a day for an Abu Dhabi excursion.
FAQs
Dubai questions, answered
The things people ask us most before booking a Dubai trip.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Dubai?
Yes, a visa is required for most Indian passport holders, though holders of certain US, UK and Schengen visas or residencies may be eligible for visa on arrival. Rules change, so we confirm current requirements for your passport at the time of booking and assist with the application.
Is Dubai good for a family holiday?
It is one of the most family-friendly destinations within easy reach of India. Everything is air-conditioned, the theme parks and aquariums are built for children, Indian food is everywhere and the city is very safe. Distances are short, so days do not become exhausting.
Is Dubai expensive?
Flights and hotels are the main costs, and both drop considerably outside the November to March peak. Food and transport can be managed cheaply — the metro is inexpensive and there is good-value Indian food throughout. Attraction tickets add up, so booking them as part of a package usually works out better.
Can we visit Abu Dhabi from Dubai?
Yes, it is about ninety minutes each way and commonly done as a day trip. The usual stops are the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Ferrari World and the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Dress code at the mosque is strict and enforced.
