About
Bali travel guide
Bali is a Hindu island in a Muslim-majority country, and that shows everywhere — temples on every corner, daily offerings on the pavement, and ceremonies that shut roads without warning.
It divides by region: Ubud inland for rice terraces and culture, the south for beaches and nightlife, the east and north for quieter coast and diving.
When to go
Best time to visit Bali
April to October is the dry season and the best time to go, with July and August the busiest and most expensive. May, June and September are the sweet spot — dry, but without the peak-season crush.
November to March is the wet season: heavy afternoon downpours, high humidity, and lower rates. It rarely rains all day, and the island is at its greenest, but diving visibility drops and some beaches collect debris.
Highlights
Top things to do in Bali
The places most Bali itineraries are built around.
Tegallalang rice terraces
Stepped paddy north of Ubud, best early before the tour buses.
Uluwatu Temple
A clifftop temple at the southern tip, with a Kecak fire dance at sunset.
Mount Batur sunrise trek
A two-hour pre-dawn climb up an active volcano, starting around 3am.
Tanah Lot
A sea temple on a rock offshore, approachable at low tide.
Nusa Penida
A day trip by fast boat to Kelingking cliff and Angel's Billabong.
Ubud
The Monkey Forest, the art markets and the surrounding village walks.
Trip length
How many days do you need in Bali?
Seven to eight days. Five is workable if you base yourself in two places; a week lets you split between Ubud and the coast and still fit Nusa Penida.
FAQs
Bali questions, answered
The things people ask us most before booking a Bali trip.
Do Indians need a visa for Bali?
Indonesia offers visa on arrival to Indian passport holders at Bali's airport, extendable once. Requirements and fees change, so we confirm the current position before you travel.
Where should we base ourselves?
Most trips split between Ubud for culture and rice terraces, and one coastal base — Seminyak or Canggu for restaurants and surf, Nusa Dua for calm resort beaches, Uluwatu for cliffs. Moving once mid-trip works better than day-tripping from one place.
How bad is the traffic?
Worse than people expect. Ubud to the southern beaches can take two hours for 35 km. Build it into your planning and avoid itineraries that cross the island twice in a day.
Is it good for a honeymoon?
It is among the most popular honeymoon destinations for Indian couples — private pool villas, sunset dinners and a short flight. May, June and September give good weather without peak crowds.
